Spacelords steam charts1/7/2024 Yes we could see that Blade games have a much more limited market than strategy games, to give an example, since they do not attract the casual player.īlade reached the top of sales charts across Europe to immediately disappear from them. We can not complain although they were less than expected. ![]() Juan Diaz Bustamante, director of Rebel Act, analyzed the reasons for the decline of the study in an interview for MeriStation in 2017: "Sales in Europe, including Spain, were good for a game like Blade. However, its commercial success was not as expected. Its only project was Blade: The Age of Darkness (2001), an action and adventure title that stood out for its demanding difficulty, its illumination and its hyperrealism of the fighting, in those that included mutilations and wounds that bled in real time. Mercury Steam was born of the shipwreck of Rebel Act, founded in 2001. His story, narrated first hand by the studio for MeriStation, is paved with disappointments that, far from sinking them, have given him the energy to resurface with more strength and move forward. However, the trajectory of Mercury Steam has not always been a path of roses. His latest project is Spacelords, a multiplayer pulp shooter that has been remodeling its course thanks to the comments of the loyal community he has built. His most notable works have been Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, return of the saga of vampire action, and Samus Returns, with which the space bounty hunter landed on Nintendo 3DS. Mercury Steam is one of the longest studies of the Spanish industry. Speaking to, Nordisk Film Games MD Mikkel Weider said it saw great potential in the games industry. From the ashes of Rebel Act, Mercury Steam was born, one of the leading studies of Spanish industry. ![]() The company has also invested in Star Stable Online studio Stable Entertainment and in 2019, former DICE CEO Karl Troedsson took on a senior partner role at Nordisk. The firm spent $104.16 million on the developer, before also i nvesting $5.5 million in indie label Raw Fury later that year. Perhaps the biggest to date was the company buying Just Cause and Rage 2 developer Avalanche Studios. Nordisk, meanwhile, has been ramping up its games business in recent years. At the time, producer Dave Cox told us that the firm wanted to take risks as publishers had become "so conservative." This title was rebranded as Spacelords in July 2018. Madrid-based MercurySteam has worked on the Castlevania: Lords of Shadow and Metroid series in the past, but in 2017 struck out on its own with ambitious episodic game Raiders of the Broken Planet. MercurySteam’s track record speaks for itself, and the games they now have in development are extremely promising and exciting." The studio is undoubtedly one of the premier PC and console game developers in Europe, and we’re very proud of having the company join our portfolio. ![]() Nordisk Games senior partner Martin Walfisz added: ”After meeting the founders and team at MercurySteam we immediately recognized their fantastic talent and creativity at work. The saying “The best is yet to come” takes on all its meaning now." "Since the first time we met with them, we were very clear that both parties shared the same DNA, ambition and objectives and we are convinced that we are entering a new era of consolidation and growth for our studio. “We warmly welcome Nordisk Games as a new MercurySteam partner," MercurySteam CEO and co-founder Enric Alvarez ( pictured) said. This is the first investment that Nordisk has made outside of its native Nordic region (try saying that one quickly, I dare you). No value has been put on the deal as of yet but the company has apparently said that it is a "sizeable" investment. Danish media giant Nordisk Games has acquired 40 per cent of Spanish developer MercurySteam.
